When I was hired as the code enforcement officer, I was asked to write something for the newsletter each month. I thought I would start by letting you know how to make a complaint and what will be done after you make the complaint. If you have a problem with barking dogs, dogs running loose, junk vehicles, lawns not being taken care of, or even loud noise's of any kind, please report it. All you have to do is email me at mikebogie@hotmail.com or go to city hall and write out a complaint. Please put the address of the residence with the issue and describe the problem. Most importantly, you must have your name and phone number on the complaint. (I will not respond to complaints without a name). I will not give your name or information to anyone, but you could be called if the issue goes to court. If you do make a complaint, I will go to the offending residence, and if the issue is not resolved, the offender will be cited. The big issue happening now is dogs. If you have a dog, and it is not licensed with the city, you could be cited. Please go to city hall and pick up a license. The cost is only $10.00 for spayed or neutered dogs. The cost is $20.00 if the dog is not fixed. Those costs are much less than being cited and having to go to Colfax for court. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.

~Messages from the Mayor~
Summer finally arrived, and now we are complaining about the heat!! The one that should be complaining is my yard; it seems that the grass suffers and the weeds prosper!
On to the news from city hall. The council met with Roger Oestmann, who designs concrete architectural structures, and added support to the new cemetery war memorial. Cemetery committee members are Linda Zehm, Carol Sturman, Teresa Hoke-House and Debbie Groom.
We submitted another grant application to complete our water project. This hopefully will be the focus of my next newsletter!
One of our patrons asked about aluminum recycling. I wonder if there is a group in town, possibly at school, that would like to oversee such a project. It might be a fund-raising project. Let me know if interested.
The council officially passed a pit bull ordinance after being refined by our city’s attorney. The council decided that the cost of a lifetime license for pit bills would be $100.00. The official copies are now at city hall and the post office.
I would like to thank everyone who helped make our Slippery Gulch Celebration the success it enjoys. As I wrote last month, those of you who bought raffle tickets, duck race tickets, and bought t-shirts, helped finance the many activities associated with this event.
One last comment for our farmer patrons – have a safe and bountiful harvest!
