Healthy Tekoa News!
Its all about filling your family toolbox next month. Parenting is not an easy job for anyone, but two programs we offer provide some helpful tools for some of the tough times. Pre-registration is now open for two Healthy Tekoa parenting workshops series. Dates will be set on the time available for the parents. The first workshop, Guiding Good Choices, teaches parents of preteens and younger adolescents (ages 11-15) the skills they need to improve family communication and family bonding. The program draws on extensive research that demonstrates the critical importance of bonding in reducing or inhibiting adolescent participation in antisocial behaviors. The second workshop series, Incredible Years, promotes children's emotional regulation, social competence, problem solving, reading and school readiness. This workshop series is for parents of children ages 2-8. Workshop topics include: "Child-Directed Play to Promote Positive Relationships and Children's Confidence," "Academic and Persistence Coaching to Promote Children's Language Skills and School Readiness," "Emotion Coaching to Strengthen Children's Emotional Literacy," "Social Coaching to Promote Children's Cooperative Friendship's," "Imaginative Parenting Interactions to Promote Children's Emotional Regulation Skills," "Creative Parent Play to Promote Children's Problem Solving and Empathy."
These highly interactive parenting programs are worth your time! Contact Diane Harp at 284-2781 or dharp@tekoasd.org if you have any questions.
